Lawrence Montani - Team Leader

Lawrence Montani’s early education in the importance of great service was gained as a kid behind the counter of his family’s Stewart’s Root Beer restaurant. After graduating from Rhode Island’s Bryant College, he put those lessons to work in the mortgage industry — first as an underwriter, then as a mortgage clerk, and now as one of the country’s most successful originators.

In 1989, he helped launch First Interstate Financial Corp. in Shrewsbury, NJ. The firm now includes five partners and 100 employees, handling an average of $750 million in closings annually. Lawrence is a fixture among the “Top 200” published annually by Mortgage Originator. He was also featured as the magazine’s “Superstar of the Month” in May 2004.

Larry’s business philosophy is all about building relationships. "When you’re talking to someone about your finances, that’s pretty personal. I invest the time to build rapport with my customers, so they not only get the loan that works best for them, but they feel great about the process all the way through."
